The White Sox swept a twin bill from the A's, winning the first game, 8-4, on a grand slam homer by Ron Blomberg and capturing the second contest, 7-3, as rookie Steve Trout pitched his first major league complete game. Blomberg's blast came with two out after A's shortstop Mario Guerrero booted a grounder by Chet Lemon. Prior to that error, Marv Foley and Thad Bosley had reached base via singles. Wayne Nordhagen added a two-run pinch-homer in the ninth.
