. . . where the 1970s live forever!
A three-run homer by Willie Stargell propelled the Pirates to a 5-2 triumph over the Cubs, keeping the Bucs' title hopes alive in the East division race. Stargell's blast came in the third inning and followed a double by Omar Moreno and an intentional walk to Dave Parker. Ed Ott and Bill Robinson each had RBI singles for the Pirates in the sixth stanza. Rookie righthander Don Robinson pitched his ninth complete game of the season. [The Sporting News]
