After being held hitless for 5 1/3 innings by Ron Guidry, the Brewers staged a four-run outburst to kayo last year's Cy Young Award winner and post a season-opening 5-1 triumph over the Yankees. Gorman Thomas started the rally with a single and Charlie Moore and Paul Molitor walked to load the bases. 

A single by Don Money plated two runs. Cecil Cooper and Sixto Lezcano followed with singles to drive in another pair. Mike Caldwell, a 22-game winner last year, scattered seven hits en route to the victory. [The Sporting News]
