After leadoff batter Paul Molitor grounded out, the Brewers hit for the cycle and scored three runs in the first inning to defeat the Yankees, 4-3. Don Money tripled and crossed the plate on a single by Cecil Cooper, who was thrown out trying to stretch his hit. Larry Hisle followed with a double and Ben Oglivie capped the outburst with a homer.
