A two-out single by Joe Morgan in the bottom of the 10th inning drove home the winning run as the Reds salvaged the finale of their four-game series from the Giants, 7-6. The victory was the first for John McNamara as the Reds' manager.

Rick Auerbach opened the 10th with a double and scored on Morgan's blow after Ken Griffey popped out on a bunt attempt and Dave Concepcion grounded out. The Reds rallied from a 6-1 deficit in the fifth inning on a grand slam homer by George Foster and a solo swat by Dan Driessen. [The Sporting News]
