After coming from behind with three runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game, the Orioles pushed across a tally in the 10th inning to beat the Yankees, 6-5. The Orioles' tying trio scored on a walk to Doug DeCinces, singles by Pat Kelly and Lee May, a wild pitch and a single by Al Bumbry.

In the 10th, Ken Singleton singled and was replaced by pinch-runner John Lowenstein, who stole second with one out and continued to third on catcher Thurman Munson's throwing error. Intentional walks to DeCinces and Kelly loaded the sacks before a single by Rick Dempsey produced the decisive marker. [The Sporting News]
