A run-scoring single by Manny Mota in the 10th inning for the 133rd pinch-hit of the veteran's career enabled the Dodgers to defeat the Giants, 2-1. The Dodgers counted their initial run off Bob Knepper in the second on a walk to Steve Garvey, single by Joe Ferguson, a wild pitch and passes to Steve Yeager and Burt Hooton. The Giants, who were held to five hits by Hooton, tied the score in the seventh with a single by Bill Madlock, pass to Jack Clark, a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly by Willie McCovey.

In the 10th, with Tom Griffin on the hill for the Giants, Garvey singled with one out and Ferguson walked. After Dave Roberts relieved, Mota batted for Gary Thomasson and delivered his deciding single. [The Sporting News]
