A sacrifice fly by Larry Wolfe in the 12th inning drove home the decisive run as the Red Sox edged the Mariners, 4-3, Seattle's ninth consecutive defeat. In the 12th, Butch Hobson beat out an infield hit with one out. A double by Jim Dwyer and an intentional walk to Bob Montgomery loaded the sacks. Wolfe then hit a fly ball to left field and Hobson beat Joe Simpson's throw to the plate. [The Sporting News]
