Exploding for five runs in the first inning, the Indians went on to a 7-2 thumping of the Twins. The Indians sent nine batters to the plate in their getaway as losing pitcher Roger Erickson walked three batters and served up back-to-back doubles to Bobby Bonds and Andre Thornton.
