The winning run scored on a wild pitch as the Royals edged the Indians. 5-4. After Gary Alexander tied the score for the Indians at 4-4 with a homer in the top of the ninth, Willie Wilson was hit by a pitch in the Royals' half and advanced to third on a single by Pete LaCock.

Pinch-hitter Tom Poquette then drew a walk to load the sacks. After White flied out to shallow center, reliever Sid Monge uncorked a wild pitch with George Brett at the plate, allowing Wilson to dash home. [The Sporting News]
