Three Boston pitchers limited the Angels to four hits as the Red Sox posted a 2-0 whitewashing of the Angels. The first Bosox run came in the second inning when Carl Yastrzemski walked, advanced to third on a single by Jim Dwyer and scored on a sacrifice fly by Butch Hobson.

The second tally came in the fifth when Hobson reached first safely on an error by Carney Lansford, moved to second on an infield single by Jerry Remy and scored on a single to center by Rick Burleson. Bill Campbell retired Joe Rudi on a fly ball with the bases loaded for the final out of the game. [The Sporting News]
