. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A four-run outburst in the fifth inning enabled the Indians to snap their four-game losing streak by edging the Royals, 5-4, and end the Royals' six-game winning streak. The fifth-inning rally began with a one-out triple by Rick Manning. After Bobby Bonds walked, Andre Thornton followed with an RBI single.

Toby Harrah then drove home Bonds and Thornton with a double and tallied the ultimate winning run when Royal shortstop Freddie Patek made a wild throw on a grounder by Duane Kuiper. Sid Monge came on in relief of Rick Wise in the ninth inning and killed a Royal rally by picking pinch-runner Willie Wilson off first base. [The Sporting News]
