Dividing a doubleheader, the Brewers won the lidlifter, 3-0, behind the six-hit pitching of Mike Caldwell, while the Blue Jays captured the nightcap, 5-3. The Brewers scored twice in the seventh inning of the first game on a triple by Sixto Lezcano after a walk to Larry Hisle, and the other run on a sacrifice fly by Paul Molitor. Gorman Thomas blasted a homer in the eighth.

The Jays trailed, 3-2, going into the bottom of the eighth in the second game before going ahead to win with consecutive homers by Rick Bosetti and Bob Robertson. [The Sporting News]
