A single by Manny Trillo capped a two-run rally in the bottom of the ninth that enabled the Phillies to edge the Padres, 4-3. The Phils trailed, 3-2, when Mike Schmidt walked in the ninth, stopped at third on a double by Garry Maddox and scored the tying run on a wild pitch. Trillo then lashed a single, plating Maddox with the winning tally. [The Sporting News]
