The brilliant pitching of Jim Slaton and slugging of Gorman Thomas and Ben Oglivie keyed the Brewers' 8-0 whitewashing of the Indians. Slaton yielded only a fourth-inning single to Bobby Bonds and a ninth-inning single to Bo Diaz.

Thomas blasted a three-run homer in the seventh inning (his sixth in seven games) while Oglivie had a solo clout in the second frame and a two-run shot to cap the Brewers' five-run seventh. [The Sporting News]
