. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A homer by Roy Smalley in the eighth inning enabled the Twins to extend their winning streak to five games with a 7-6 victory over the Tigers. Mike Marshall, making his 14th appearance of the season, pitched the last 2 1/3 innings and gained his third victory against one defeat to go along with nine saves. The Twins also had a homer by Rob Wilfong. Ken Landreaux drove in two runs with a single and double.

Jason Thompson hit a two-run homer for the Tigers. Rusty Staub, playing in his first game since ending his contract dispute, had one hit in three official trips and picked up an RBI on a walk with the bases loaded. [The Sporting News]
