Making his first start of the season, Rick Sutcliffe pitched the Dodgers to a 5-2 victory over the Phillies. The Dodgers broke a 1-1 tie and beat Steve Carlton with two runs in the sixth inning on singles by Bill Russell, Steve Garvey, Joe Ferguson and Derrel Thomas.
