The Twins extended their winning streak to six games when Glenn Adams homered in the seventh inning for the run that beat the Tigers, 7-6. Ron Jackson also homered for the Twins and Mike Cubbage knocked in three runs with a single and double.

Rusty Staub and Steve Kemp each batted in a pair for the Tigers. Mike Marshall, making his 15th appearance of the season, worked the last 2 2/3 innings and gained his fourth victory in five decisions to go along with nine saves. [The Sporting News]
