Fred Lynn, who leads the major leagues in homers, cracked his 10th of the season and Jim Rice drove in four runs to lead the attack of the Red Sox in an 11-4 victory over the Mariners. Lynn's drive opened the scoring in the first inning.

Rice singled for one of four runs in the third and smashed a homer with two men on base in the eighth. Carl Yastrzemski and Dwight Evans each contributed two RBIs. Mario Mendoza drove in three runs for the Mariners with a single and a sacrifice fly. [The Sporting News]
