A grand slam homer by Gary Carter climaxed a five-run fifth inning and propelled the Expos to a 7-5 victory over the Padres. Expo starter Bill Lee, although posting his fourth straight win, was shelled from the mound in the seventh frame when the Padres rallied for five runs, the big blow being a three-run homer by Dan Briggs. Stan Bahnsen pitched out of a seventh-inning jam and Woodie Fryman came on in the ninth to gain his first save of the campaign. [The Sporting News]
