A triple play highlighted the A's 5-3 triumph over the Orioles. In the Oriole third, Ken Singleton walked and Eddie Murray singled. Gary Roenicke grounded sharply to Wayne Gross at third, who stepped on the base for one out, threw to second baseman Mickey Klutts, who relayed the ball to first, completing the triple play.

The A's snapped a 3-3 tie in the seventh when Gross led off with a walk, took third on a single by Mario Guerrero and scored on a groundout by Mitchell Page. A two-out single by Derek Bryant scored Guerrero with an insurance tally. [The Sporting News]
