Taking advantage of errors, the Royals edged the Rangers, 4-3. The first Ranger misplay contributed to the Royals' two runs in the first inning. A single by Darrell Porter drove in the first run, but the second came across when center fielder Al Oliver's throw sailed into the dugout.

The Royals took a 3-0 lead in the seventh when Amos Otis singled home George Brett after an error by left fielder Johnny Grubb. Steve Braun smacked a solo homer in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
