. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Notching his seventh straight victory, Tommy John pitched the Yankees to an 8-1 verdict over the Mariners. The Yanks picked up two runs in the first inning on a leadoff homer by Mickey Rivers, a three-base error by Mariner outfielder Dan Meyer and a single by Reggie Jackson.

A sacrifice fly by Rivers and run-scoring single by Willie Randolph added another pair in the second stanza and singles by Graig Nettles, Jackson and Jerry Narron and a sacrifice fly by Bucky Dent plated two more in the third. [The Sporting News]
