Ed Halicki yielded only two hits, both by Del Unser, while pitching the Giants to a 4-1 victory over the Phillies. Unser also drove in the Phillies' only run with an infield out in the sixth inning, scoring Bake McBride, who walked and moved up on a grounder.

The Giants counted twice in the fifth on a triple by Darrell Evans, sacrifice fly by Marc Hill, single by Johnnie LeMaster, an error on the hit by McBride, and a single by Halicki.
