. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Snapping their six-game losing streak, the Blue Jays beat the Rangers, 3-1, in the opener of a doubleheader, but the Rangers came back to win the nightcap, 7-5. In the opener, the score was 1-1 in the sixth when Alfredo Griffin doubled, moved to third on a grounder by Roy Howell and scored on a double by John Mayberry. Griffin led off the eighth with a triple and scored on a grounder by Howell.

A seven-run explosion in the eighth inning of the nightcap lifted the Rangers to victory. A double by Buddy Bell produced the first two runs of the inning. Following a walk to Richie Zisk, Bell scored on a single by John Ellis. A single by pat Putnam drove home Zisk. Mike Jorgensen then capped the scoring with a three-run homer. [The Sporting News]
