. . . where the 1970s live forever!
A grand-slam homer by Barry Foote highlighted the Cubs' 7-1 thumping of the Phillies. Foote's blast against his ex-teammates came in the fifth inning and was set up by a single by Dave Kingman, walk to Steve Ontiveros and single by Jerry Martin.

The Cubs picked up their three previous runs in the first inning on a single by Ivan DeJesus, triple by Bill Buckner, singles by Kingman and Ontiveros and a double by Martin. Mike Schmidt hit a homer to save the Phillies from a shutout at the hands of Lynn McGlothen. [The Sporting News]
