A two-run single by Hosken Powell for his fourth hit of the game capped a 10th-inning outburst by the Twins, who scored four times on four walks and only two hits to defeat the Royals, 10-6. Roy Smalley hit a pair of run-scoring singles, extending his batting streak to 18 games, and Ron Jackson smashed a homer as the Twins came from behind to force the contest into overtime.

In the 10th, Ken Landreaux led off with a single and Bombo Rivera sacrificed. After Renie Martin walked Jackson, Al Hrabosky relieved and passed Butch Wynegar to load the bases. Willie Norwood struck out, but Hrabosky then lost control and walked both Bob Randall and John Castino to force in two runs before Powell iced the verdict with his single. [The Sporting News]
