Taking advantage of Twins' misplays, the Royals posted a 5-1 victory. In the first inning, a throwing error by Twin shortstop Roy Smalley allowed a pair of runs to score. In the fourth, Twin center fielder Willie Norwood let two fly balls get away from him for triples, giving the Royals two more runs. George Brett clouted a solo homer in the fifth.
