A three-run rally in the ninth inning carried the Twins to a 7-6 come-from-behind victory over the Rangers. The Twins trailed, 6-4, entering the ninth when Jose Morales began the winning surge with a single.

Sparky Lyle replaced starter Jon Matlack on the mound for the Rangers and gave up singles to Butch Wynegar, pinch-hitter Willie Norwood and John Castino to tie the score. Jim Kern relieved Lyle and was greeted by a single by Hosken Powell that drove in the winning run. Roy Smalley's hitting streak was stopped at 19 games. [The Sporting News]
