. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Mike Schmidt cracked his 11th homer in the month of May and 15th of the season to break a 3-3 deadlock in the fifth inning of the Phillies' 5-3 victory over the Cardinals. Schmidt smashed the first pitch of the inning delivered by Redbird starter John Denny.

The Phils added another run in the fifth when Del Unser walked, went to third on a single by Tim McCarver and scored on a pinch-single by Ramon Aviles. The Cards had taken a 3-0 lead with Keith Hernandez accounting for a pair with a single and homer. The Phils tied the contest in the fourth on a two-run double by Unser and run-scoring two-bagger by Rudy Meoli. [The Sporting News]
