Gaining credit for his 100th career victory, Joe Niekro hurled the Astros to a 4-1 triumph over the Braves. Enos Cabell lashed a solo homer in the fourth inning and the Astros added three more tallies in the fifth.

With two out, Julio Gonzalez, Jose Cruz and Cesar Cedeno stroked successive singles for one run and Cruz scored when Jeff Leonard reached first on an error by Bob Horner. Cabell then followed with an RBI single. [The Sporting News]
