A four-run eruption in the third inning carried the Expos to a 6-3 triumph over the Pirates. Ross Grimsley led off with a single, Andre Dawson was safe on an error by second baseman Lee Lacy and Rodney Scott singled to load the bases.

A double by Tony Perez plated two tallies and Ellis Valentine followed with a run-scoring single. The final marker of the inning came home on a sacrifice fly by Chris Speier. [The Sporting News]
