Snapping a tie with a three-run pinch-homer by Pat Kelly in the 10th inning, the Orioles prevailed over the Red Sox, 5-2. The winning surge began with a one-out single by Billy Smith. Mark Belanger sacrificed and reached base safely when Sox third baseman Butch Hobson committed a throwing error.
