Willie McCovey, Mike Sadek and Bob Knepper hit homers in the fourth inning and Jack Clark added another in the eighth to power the Giants to a 6-4 victory over the Braves. Joining in the longball barrage, the Braves scored all their runs on homers, getting a three-run drive by Jeff Burroughs and a solo shot by Bob Horner to take a 4-1 lead in the fourth.

The Giants came slugging back in their half. McCovey led with a circuit clout and Bill Madlock followed with a single. Then, after two outs, Sadek and Knepper homered in succession. Knepper's drive was the first of his major league career for the Giants' pitcher.
