Bruce Sutter pulled Lynn McGlothen out of a jam with two men on base in the ninth inning and retired the side to save the Cubs' 3-0 victory over the Phillies. Bill Buckner, who had four hits for the Cubs, doubled in the third inning and scored on a single by Dave Kingman. That would have been enough, but the Cubs insured their victory when Jerry Martin walked and Barry Foote homered for two more runs in the fourth. [The Sporting News]
