. . . where the 1970s live forever!

After two were out in the ninth inning, Alfredo Griffin and Bob Bailor singled and Roy Howell followed with a homer to lift the Blue Jays to a 7-6 victory over the Red Sox. A homer by John Mayberry and pair of run-scoring singles by Rick Cerone paced the Blue Jays to an early 4-0 lead before the Red Sox rallied to tie the score in the seventh with the aid of a three-run homer by Butch Hobson.

The Red Sox then went ahead in the top half of the ninth with a pair of tallies on a single by Gary Allenson, pass to Jerry Remy and two-out single by Rick Burleson, but Bill Campbell failed to hold the lead after apparently having the victory wrapped up. [The Sporting News]
