Fred Norman turned in his first complete game since April 20 and pitched the Reds to a 3-1 victory over the Dodgers. Reggie Smith doubled and scored on singles by Steve Garvey and Dusty Baker for the Dodgers' run in the fourth inning.

Ken Griffey tied the score with a homer off Don Sutton in the sixth and the Reds then won with two runs in the seventh. Dan Driessen singled and came home on a double by Johnny Bench. After a single by Ray Knight, Bench also scored when Davey Lopes threw wildly on a grounder by Dave Collins. [The Sporting News]
