A pair of four-run innings enabled the Brewers to extend their winning streak to five games with an 8-4 victory over the A's. After being held to two singles through the first five frames, the Brewers erupted against Rick Langford in the sixth when Jim Gantner and Robin Yount singled and Cecil Cooper and Dick Davis followed with successive homers.

Cooper and Davis singled to ignite another four-run outburst by the Brewers in the eighth. After a wild pitch, Ben Oglivie drove in both runners with a single. Two passes then filled the bases and two more runs scored on a fielder's choice grounder by Gorman Thomas and single by Gantner.
