A two-run homer by Steve Henderson in the seventh inning not only was the Mets' deciding blow in a 10-8 victory over the Pirates, but it also enabled Skip Lockwood to end his personal string of 14 straight defeats. The Mets' reliever lost his last nine decisions in '78 and his first five this year.

After Henderson's homer put the Mets ahead, 9-8, Joel Youngblood provided an insurance run with a circuit clout in the eighth. Omar Moreno drove in four runs, his major league career high, for the Pirates, who left 15 men on base. [The Sporting News]
