Terry Puhl batted in a run with a double in the third inning to give Richard a 1-0 lead in his duel with Eric Rasmussen, who finally cracked in the seventh when the Astros scored three times on singles by Jose Cruz and Enos Cabell, a pass to Alan Ashby, sacrifice fly by Richard and a wild pickoff throw by Dennis Kinney after replacing Rasmussen.
