Hitting for the cycle for the first time in his career, George Brett collected his fifth hit and second homer of the game leading off the 16th inning, lifting the Royals to a 5-4 triumph over the Orioles. A solo homer by Ken Singleton in the ninth inning had tied the contest. Brett's first round-tripper was a two-run shot in the eighth inning that gave the Royals a 4-3 lead. [The Sporting News]
