A run-scoring single by Lance Parrish in the eighth inning enabled the Tigers to edge the Blue Jays, 9-8, after a see-saw battle. Lou Whitaker opened the inning with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice by Steve Kemp and tallied on Parrish's blow. The Blue Jays had overcome an 8-5 deficit with a three-run rally in the seventh, the key hits being doubles by Rick Bosetti and Danny Ainge. [The Sporting News]
