A run-scoring single by Lance Parrish in the eighth inning enabled the Tigers to edge the Blue Jays, 9-8, after a see-saw battle. Lou Whitaker opened the inning with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice by Steve Kemp and tallied on Parrish's blow.
