A wild pitch by Mike Marshall provided the ultimate winning run as the A's edged the Twins, 5-4. The score was 3-3 going into the seventh when Glenn Burke and Larry Murray stroked singles and brought on Marshall in relief of starter Roger Erickson.

Burke was thrown out at the plate on a grounder by Dwayne Murphy, but Mitchell Page singled to right, scoring Murray and advancing Murphy to third. Marshall then uncorked a wild pitch and Murphy scored. [The Sporting News]
