The Red Sox picked up their first victory at Arlington Stadium since 1977 when they edged the Rangers, 3-2, in 12 innings. George Scott batted for Gary Allenson and walked on four pitches to set up the winning run. Jim Dwyer, running for Scott, stole second and scored on a single by Jerry Remy. The Rangers had tied the score in the bottom of the ninth on a two-out RBI single by Bump Wills. [The Sporting News]
