Pushing across three runs in the ninth inning, the Brewers upended the Yankees, 5-4. With the Brewers trailing, 4-2, Ben Oglivie and Sixton Lezcano opened the ninth with singles. Ray Burris relieved Ken Clay on the mound for the Yankees and was greeted with a single by Robin Yount that filled the bases.

Ron Davis replaced Burris and yielded a two-run double to Gorman Thomas. Following an intentional walk to Charlie Moore, Paul Molitor singled to plate the winning run. [The Sporting News]
