Jim Kern, who had a 7-0 record as the Rangers' relief ace, gained credit for his eighth save in a 4-2 victory over the Orioles. The Rangers took advantage of an error by Rich Dauer and scored two unearned runs in the second inning. Bump Wills drove them in with a single. After the Orioles picked up a counter in the fourth, the Rangers came back with a pair in their half on a homer by Richie Zisk, two walks and a double by Buddy Bell. Kern relieved Steve Comer and put down an Oriole threat in the eighth. [The Sporting News] |
