After Gorman Thomas, Robin Yount and Buck Martinez hit homers to account for the Brewers' first three runs, Sixto Lezcano drove in two tallies with a double in the eighth inning to beat the Royals, 5-4. Yount's homer in the fifth came on an inside-the-park drive and one out later Martinez connected for his first homer and first RBI of the season.

With the score tied, 3-3, Sal Bando and Dick Davis singled in the Brewers' eighth and Ben Oglivie was hit by a pitch to load the bases before Lezcano rapped his decisive double. The Royals' only counter-thrust was a homer by Amos Otis. [The Sporting News]
