The Expos, who arrived in Houston after three straight shutout victories over the Phillies, were stopped on their scoreless pitching streak and lost to the Astros, 3-2. Ross Grimsley, who started for the Expos, was tagged for two runs in the second inning on singles by Terry Puhl, Craig Reynolds and Cesar Cedeno and an infield out by Jose Cruz.

Puhl then homered in the third to produce what proved to be the Astros' winning run. Tony Solaita batted in the Expos' tallies against J.R. Richard, scoring Warren Cromartie both times. [The Sporting News]
