An infield hit by Frank Taveras in the 11th inning scored Doug Flynn and brought the Mets a 5-4 victory over the Braves. Flynn led off with a single and advanced to second on an infield out by Ron Hodges. Joel Youngblood, who had homered earlier in the game, singled to left, Flynn stopping at third.

Taveras then beat out a slow roller to shortstop Pepe Frias as Flynn scored. Ed Glynn, who reported earlier in the day from Tidewater (International), gave up two walks in the Braves' half, one of them intentional, but retired the side to receive credit for the save. [The Sporting News]
