Hitting safely in his 16th straight game, Johnny Grubb belted a homer and two singles and scored three runs to pace the Rangers to a 4-2 triumph over the Orioles. Grubb scored in the third on a single by Pat Putnam, in the fifth on a single by Al Oliver and in the seventh when he drove the ball over the left field fence. Ranger relief ace Jim Kern recorded his ninth save of the season. [The Sporting News]
